Mike Hunter

Graduating in Chemistry from the University of Salford (Manchester, UK), June 1977, in Chemistry, immediately joined Houseman, a large UK based water treatment company as a trainee in field technical sales position. After Houseman was acquired by Degremont SA (part of Suez), became VP Pole Technique, for the chemical service division for Europe. Remaining in water treatment with Houseman/Degremont for23 years, subsequently joining Halox Technologies of Bridgeport CT as VP Technical before joining and part owning Waterchem in the UK as Technical Director.

Currently working with APTech Solids, of West Chester OH, as Global Technical Director, with additional responsibility for international sales and is based in the UK.

With a history of working in legionella control since the early 1980s this remains a major part of the career, handling an outbreak in the UK in 1985 brought home the impact that the organism can cause.

Involved in the re-write of the UK HSE HSG 274 guidance documents as a member of the Water Management Society (WMSoc) and the Legionella Control Society.

Mike is a Director and Fellow of the WMSoc, a member if the technical committee and a member of the AWT, and is active in producing guidance documents and training for water treatment controls in the UK.
