Les Payne has over 39 years of experience in the air & water hygiene industry. Recently appointed as Engineering Manager (Water) for JLL-Integral his journey first started by establishing a microbiology laboratory for the inspection division of General Accident Insurance. In 1986 he developed a Quality Control System in conjunction with Dr Ron J Fallon which resulted in establishing the first NAMAS (now UKAS) accredited laboratory in Scotland to test for legionellae. His role in assisting clients with onsite issues resulted in his involvement with Legionella Risk & HACCP Assessments. At this time Les was a committee member of the Scottish branch of the Industrial Water Society which we now call the Water Management Society.
Consolidation in the insurance industry resulted in his move into the water treatment industry which ranged from flushing, servicing thermostatic mixing valves, disinfections to extensive works on cooling towers.
In his latter years Les has concentrated on passing on his knowledge providing numerous training courses in the UK and Middle East.
