July 2024
The LCA have processes for classifying suspension, termination, exclusion, lapsed members and reapplication. This procedure defines terms and lays out the requirements for members, applicants and the LCA.
As we start to look forward to Re-registration the LCA would like to highlight the various states that Applicants, Members and former Members can be as defined by the LCA.
Classification | Definition | Example |
Suspension of membership | The registered Member company’s entry will be removed from the LCA website completely. The company will not be allowed to represent itself as being an LCA member during the period of suspension but at this stage the LCA does not expect removal of logos from all documents, vehicles etc. When the necessary corrective action has been taken and the suspension has been lifted then it can return as a full registered Member. Failure to address the issues within the required time frame will result in termination of LCA Membership. | A member will be suspended if they fail to complete their identified audit actions within the specified timeframe. This member may say they are a suspended LCA member but will not be listed on the LCA directory. |
Termination of LCA Application or Membership | The Applicant or registered Member company is terminated with immediate effect. They are informed that they may no longer display the LCA logo in any setting or make any claims to LCA membership or application. All references to LCA or instances of the LCA logo must be removed within one month of termination. A minimum period of exclusion following termination may be applied, and this will be determined by the Management Committee, after which time if the company requires LCA membership the company must reapply for LCA membership as a new LCA Applicant and go through the full application process detailed in this link. All Applicants are given a new unique LCA Membership number. |
A member will be terminated if they fail to complete their identified audit actions within the specified timeframe. Other reasons for termination include but are not limited to: lapsed membership, gross misconduct, misrepresentation and complaints. This company may not claim they are an LCA member and must remove all references to LCA membership within a month from paperwork, website, signwriting, uniforms, etc. |
Excluded Company or Individuals | An entity and/or individuals where a minimum period of exclusion has been determined by the Management Committee. After which time the entity may apply for LCA membership as a new LCA Member and/or the individuals may be involved with LCA membership |
A company where misconduct is such that the management committee determines that a period of exclusion is warranted. Misconduct such as bringing the LCA into disrepute, forging documents, claiming membership while suspended, an applicant or a non-member. Individual company directors may be excluded as part of this process. |
Lapsed | Where a member does not reregister and pay their fees within the reregistration period of 1st of July to 31st of August their membership lapses and is terminated on the 1st of September. Lapsed companies will be removed from the LCA directory on the 1st of September and informed that they may no longer display the LCA logo in any setting or make any claims to LCA membership. Lapsed companies must reapply as new members. As per procedure 340, A 2-week grace period is given before termination after the end of re-reg. LCA Manager to carry out final chase at end of August. Note the correct terminology of lapsed/terminated/pausing/cancelling to be applied. |
A company that fails to reregister in the specified time period. |
Resigned | Where a LCA member resigns their LCA membership at any time during the LCA membership year. E.g. due to various changes in their business activities. Members who resign their membership but have satisfied audit requirements may retain their listing and certification until the end of the re-registration year or the point at which they would be suspended if audited. Resigned members may apply for LCA membership as a new LCA Member at any time. |
This company may not claim they are an LCA member and must remove all references to LCA membership within a month from paperwork, website, signwriting, uniforms, etc. |
